Brightwaters is a planned 1900s village of lakes and a central canal — winding lanes of Craftsman and Colonial Revival homes, with the canal running from the lakes down to the bay. The housing is mostly 1910s and '20s Craftsman and Colonial Revival homes on the village lanes, canal-front homes along the Brightwaters canals, and larger bay-front homes at the south end of the village, and the blocks around the Brightwaters Lakes and the Brightwaters canal each light up a little differently in December.

Two things shape every Brightwaters install. First: craftsman homes here have deep eaves, exposed rafter tails, and porch columns — we clip along the eave line and wrap the columns for a period-correct look. Second: a canal doubles as a wind channel, so the dock-side eaves take more weather than the street side ever will. We rig the water side with sealed, salt-rated hardware and usually light the rear roofline so the display shows from the canal, not just the curb.
