South Hempstead is the hamlet between Hempstead village and Rockville Centre — grid streets of postwar homes beside Hempstead Lake State Park. Between Hempstead Lake State Park and Front Street the housing shifts from 1950s Capes and ranches on the grid streets around Peninsula Boulevard to 1960s splits toward Rockville Centre, with 1920s and '30s homes on the older streets near Peninsula Boulevard in between — three different jobs for a lighting crew.

Small front yards near Peninsula Boulevard mean the doorway and walkway carry the lower half of the display — a lit wreath and a short pathway run finish most homes. On a sheltered grid street, the display is judged against the house next door, not the weather. We custom-cut every strand to the roofline so spacing is even from corner to corner, and clip to gutters and shingles without nails or screws.
